This 6' long Chinese 19th century antique shop sign panel features carved calligraphy with a rubbed yellow patina. This large rectangular panel features a light recess on its trim. The panel is lacquered in a reddish-brown color in all areas other than the calligraphy. The horizontal calligraphy is enhanced by a rubbed yellow patina and bracketed by two columns of smaller calligraphy. The panel can be hung thanks to two metallic buckles shaped in a traditional Chinese geometric manner. This large Chinese 19th century carved shop sign panel with calligraphy would be an unusual decorative item in most homes, perhaps in a bedroom used as an headboard thanks to its large dimensions.
