The pattern is made up of grey blue swallows in flight and alit atop of aquamarine tree limbs and surrounded by pink cherry blossoms and gold leaves painted over a rich, chocolatey brown, glaze.

Marked: Choisy le Roi and impressed with H.B. & Cie for Hautin & Boulenger & Cie-a remarkable faiencerie from 1860s through the 1890s. The impressed numbers and letters are internal factory codes reflecting clay types and mold numbers. Most of the faiencerie's output consisted of one-of-a-kind, hand-painted, pieces and this gem is just one example.
