A rare photogravure of Wool Prayer Rug. Arabesque design on the spandrels on the top and quarter medallions in the two lower corners Realistic renditions of "Turkish flowers" in the floral arrangement in the center and the border. Knotted with Persian Knot in Cairo for the court in Istanbul. Ottoman, early 17th century. 74 and 5.8" L x 55 and 1/8"W. Topkapu Palace Museum.
The photogravure comes from a rare art folio published in Switzerland in the 1940s. Printed on one side. Hand tipped-in on a sheet of heavy paper. Numbered at the lower right corner: 8. Excellent condition - never framed.
