This Really is an Exceptionally Nice Looking Antique American - New York Stoneware Storage Jug. Circa Late 19th Century. These Types of Jugs were typically used for Liquids - Spring Water - Ciders - Hard Cider and Other Spirits. It has a Classic Sand Color Salt Glaze Exterior with a Large,Beautifully & Artistically Hand Decorated Cobalt - Navy Blue Stylized Floral Flower Design on the Front. Number 2 Denoting its 2 Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity. It is Embossed - Signed by the Well Documented Lyons New York Maker "LYONS - LYONS" Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made - Intended For Everyday Utilitarian Use. In Addition Note that Stoneware Items Such as These were Individually Hand Made - Thrown on a Potters Wheel Etc. It is in Excellent All Original Condition and it Displays Beautifully. It has No No Cracks & No Repairs. I has Two Very Small Chips at the Spout. It has a Few Kiln Firing Glaze Surface Imperfections - 2 Rust Color Spots on Sides ( 1 with a Surface Chip ) - 1 Rust Spot on Handle. It Also has a Very Small "Ping" Surface Chip - Spot on the Left Side Upper Area All of Which Would Have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process. These Types of Utilitarian Stoneware Items Were Fired in Large Kilns in Batches with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time and These Types of Kiln Acquired Blemishes as well as Other are Quite Common.
It Measures Overall Approx 15 inches Tall x 9 1/4 inches Wide - Long.
