Important Baroque temple secrétaire from Northern Italy or Southern Germany in the late 18th century or early 19th century. Center cabinet features an inlaid scene of a castle in exotic woods. Side drawers showcase exquisite Pietra Dura and Pietra Paesina landscape scenes. Truly a work of art. Candle shelves, hidden compartments and papered interiors of the drawers add to the enchantment.
Some of the spring locks on the drawers have been removed but are included. If locking drawers are important, they can be reinstalled.
Bun feet and ogee base molding have been replaced. Wear consistent with age and use.
