This lovely 1930s Art Deco modernist tableware serving accessory designed by Quist, Germany, features a geometric base built in silver plate metal with a tall handle finished by a metal ball finial. The two cut crystal bottles or containers for oil and vinegar have a geometric shape and a fan neck design. The legal hallmark stamping is on the underside: Quist. One of the crystal bottles is engraved "Germany."
Measurements: 4.32 in wide (11 cm) x 3.75 in deep (9.5 cm) x 8.69 in high (22 cm).
Note: Quist Metallwaarenfabrik originated from the plant founded in 1866 by Jakob Swiss Jr. In 1872, the company modified its name to "Actien Plaqué." Among the principal shareholders was Wilhelm Friedrich Quist (1831-1903), who entered the company's capital around 1890.
The firm became F.W. Quist Metallwaarenfabrik, and the Quist family continued to manage the firm until 1951. The factory closed in 1981 due to bankruptcy.
