Beautiful 18th century etching by Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778)
Loose translation of the text: Knight Gio. Batt.a Piranesi D.D.D. A.B. Two ancient marble cinerary urns adorned with fine carvings and arabesques. They were found in the ancient sepulchres of Siena. It was these urns bought by the cavalier Cavaceppi, sculptor, and transported to Rome, and they are in England. ... The other two vessels are currently in England. Cavalier Piranesi f.
Plate dimensions 26" x 16.25". The elegant gilded frame measures 37.25" x 25.5".
