ARTIST BIO:
Lucia Jones, a Wales-based painter and Falmouth University graduate, has exhibited globally in solo and group exhibitions, including the BEEP Painting Prize 2018, and has been long-listed for prestigious art prizes such as John Moores 2020 and Jackson's Art Prize in 2022 and 2023. Her work, held in private collections across the UK, USA, Austria, and Hong Kong, explores memory and self-perception through paint and film. Drawing from obscure 1950s-90s B-movies, Jones re-contextualizes women from these cinematic sources into anonymized figures within fractured, fabricated environments, thus transforming their narratives and reconstructing their contexts.
