Originally, this would've had a porcelain bowl resting in the curved area (seen from below) for washing and a wooden lid to cover the top when not in use. The porcelain basin is long gone as is the top portion of the lid. The wood sides of the lid have hand cut dovetail corners and it slides down over the sides.

In true make-do fashion, this bidet has been converted to an upholstered seat sporting gorgeous antique 1800's French jacquard fabric. Solid, sturdy and in very good condition. Perfect seating for a vanity or for holding a tray of towels etc next to the tub. See less
