It is absolutely fantastic. The family we got it from custom ordered several dining room and living room pieces from this maker. They owned the nicest jewelry store in Galveston Texas from the 1940s to the 1970s. The lamp is signed "Mario Original Designs". The lamp is made to resemble an aquarium. The body is over 4 inches thick with an inset reversed etched glass panel. It has a fantastic under the sea motif with large clamshell, school of fish, angelfish, coral, and bubbles. There's a switch to the back that lights it from underneath giving it the most beautiful green glow you've ever seen! The shadowing is remarkable on the glass! The other switch to the back controls the two light bulb sockets in the lamp above the aquarium. There are also switches to the sockets so you can use it either way. It comes with its original rectangular shade with reticulated cut out holes that let light out through the bottom around the front and sides. It really is wonderful. There is also a 6 inch Black Lucite finial to the top of the shade. Overall the lamp measures 34 inches tall to the top of the finial with the shade being 21 inches wide and 15 inches deep. The lamp itself below measures 14 inches tall by 19 1/4 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches deep. We have had it rewired and it is ready to go in working order, otherwise all original. This is not new and not perfect condition with some blemishes to the edge of the black lacquer in area shown to the front. It is not major and you could probably just touch it up easily. The black lacquer also could use that's like buffing in some of the areas where it's not a shiny. Again this is an old item from the 40s in good condition but not perfect. See less
