ORIGINAL c1973 'BICYCLES AS ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION WITH PHILLIP VAN VALKENBERG OF MADISON'S YELLOW BICYLCE CO OP SPEAKING ON BICYLCE SYSTEMS FOR RECREATION AND TRANSPORTATION PLUS A MEMBER OF THE MILWAUKEE PARK COMMISSION WILL EXPLAIN THE MILWAUKEE RIVER BIKEWAY' WISCONSIN POSTER
This is a great piece. I recently acquired a small collection of original broadsides from a gentleman who grew up in Wisconsin in the 1960s and then moved to California in the early 1970s. These were broadsides he collected from his time growing up and from my research, I believe some of them are one of a kind pieces. They were hung up for short windows in Madison Wisconsin and California advertising a particular event and then as was usually done, they were taken down and thrown out. The ones I am offering this week are excellent original graphics and a must have for any collectors. This one is really special. I have been able to date this poster to around 1973-1974 because the Milwaukee River Bikeway was built in 1975 so this would have had to be in the couple years before that. For those not familiar with Phillip Van Valkenberg, his considered one of the most important Bicycle advocates in Wisconsin for the last 40 years and is in the Wisconsin Bicycle Hall of Fame. This is a great original broadside printed on yellow paper measuring 17 x 11 inches. Very good condition. There are pin holes in the corners and a few small tear holes near the corners from what look like it was stapled up. Probably put up on a bulletin board back in 1973 and then the pin holes from when the previous owner from whom I got it hung it on his wall. Little bit of toning to the paper but otherwise an excellent example. Quite possibly a one of a kind piece. If you collect rare broadsides, check my store for the others I am offering.
