This is a great piece. I have actually a few other Anna Barry works in the past, though I have to say this is my favorite of all the works, I have had. For those not familiar with the other artist I have included her biography below. This is a wonderful view of a Cowboy on a Bucking bull with some other cowboys looking on. A wonderful vibrant colorful view measuring 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 inches on sheet measuring 6 x 8 1/4 inches. Signed lower right and titled lower left, both in pencil. Print is in original period worm hole wood frame that is the perfect compliment and ready to hang. I believe the print has never been removed from this original frame. On the back of the original frame is the taped down dustpaper that also has the original for the artist's work. It has a different title from the front and I am guessing that was just a mistake done at the very original creation of this print. Frame measures 8 1/4 x 10 3/8 inches.
For those not familiar with the artist her biography from a gallery that sells the artist's work reads: "Anna Barry (née Anna Barshefsky), painter, printmaker and teacher, was born to Russian émigrés Max and Ida Goldberg Barshefsky on 20 May 1909 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the 1930 U.S. Federal Census her family name is changed to Barish and they are listed as living in Bronx, New York. It is not yet known where she had formal art training but she was listed as a teacher on the 1940 U.S. Census. She married artist Ira Moskowitz on 13 November 1938 and they began frequenting New Mexico. They befriended such luminaries as Mabel Dodge Lujan, Georgia O’Keeffe, Oscar Berninghaus, and many others who had become attracted to the unique landscape. Barry and Moskowitz moved to Taos, New Mexico in 1944 and remained until 1949 when they returned to New York.
