A truly exceptional piece of history, this solid mahogany partners desk was crafted by the renowned Chubb & Son, royal locksmiths appointed to Her Majesty the Queen (see close-up photo of the makers mark on the top drawer). Dating from the 1850s–1860s, this authentic Victorian desk is a testament to exquisite craftsmanship and timeless design.
The desk features a rich green leather top resting upon two robust plinth bases, each housing fully lockable drawers and cabinets. Every drawer showcases solid hand-planed wood and exquisite dovetail joinery, reflecting the highest quality traditional woodworking.
All original hardware, including locks, is fully functional, making this piece both beautiful and practical. While there has been a sensitive later restoration with some discreet modern updates—such as a cutout on the desktop for computer cables and a cutout on one plinth for electrical outlets—these changes preserve the desk’s historic integrity while enhancing usability.
Perfect as a stunning executive desk, home office centerpiece, or collector’s showpiece, this genuine Chubb & Son mahogany partners desk combines royal provenance with unmatched quality.

Light surface scratches, knicks, and general use to wood to be expected of antique this old. The leather top is in nice shape, there is slight discoloration where some tape was left. There was a hole cut into the top of the desk to receive electronic wires (for laptops ect). And also two receptacles placed into the side of one of the plinth bases for electrical outlets to be placed (later added, these are not original but were done at some point in the past). less
