This cylinder desk is an exquisite example of Louis XV furniture renowned for its elegance and refinement.
It opens with a cylinder veneered with a four-leaf open book of satin mahogany with large lemon fillets and miter-cut framing.
It simultaneously activates the opening of a dark red leather tablet, on the back, decorated with golden vignettes and patterns adding a touch of luxury.
The interior drawers in mahogany and light wood, four in number, fitted with lens buttons, as well as three horizontal niches, offer practical and aesthetic storage solutions.
The scalloped belt has a large drawer with masks and pull rings. The presence of the original lock, accompanied by its entrance and key, underlines the authenticity and historical value of this piece of furniture.
The top of this piece of furniture has a slightly concave part adding softness to the lines.
The sides are crafted in the same spirit.
The whole rests on four curved legs fitted with brass shoes.
This cylinder desk is not a simple functional and well-sized piece of furniture, it is a collector's item which testifies to the artisanal know-how of the cabinetmakers and the aesthetics of its time.
