Rare model of the Tatyana Side chair designed by Vladimir Kagan in 1970 as a prototype featuring bent acrylic, chrome plated metal and is upholstered in a tweed fabric - this unique chair has never been produced and has an excellent provenance coming directly from the Kagan apartment and his private collection - paperwork authenticating this char will be provided by request and with purchase. The Tatyana chair is in perfect vintage condition and makes a very comfortable side chair.
From Russian descent, Kagan lived in Germany before moving to New York in 1938. After studying architecture at Columbia University and only 22 years old, Kagan opened his design firm and made a name for himslef launching his long, low and sinuous Serpentine sofa. The function was to make it comfortable,” he once commented. “I created what I called vessels for the human body.”
