Vintage 70s ceramic candlestick / candleholder by Giovanni DeSimone brings a charming and colorful touch of Italian folk art to your table. Mint condition. Terracotta clay base is hand painted white with a bright orange base, periwinkle and yellow striped body, and green and brown handles. The top is lavender with red and brown bands. Signed on base and retains its original Joseph Magnin label. Measures 7 inches tall x 4.75 inches diameter.

DeSimone's pottery has been produced by hand at Ceramiche DeSimone in Sicily since the 1960s. The work features midcentury inspired folk motifs and abstract patterns. DeSimone's playful gestural designs were influenced by Picasso and the potters of Vallauris.

Joseph Magnin was a high end department store that operated from 1913 until its closing in 1984. Joseph was the son of Isaac Magnin, who founded the I. Magnin department store chain. See less
