A wonderful example of … Read more This is such an amazing vintage MCM find, I'm almost too giddy to type this posting. A wonderful example of the craftsmanship that is synonymous with the brand Royal Copenhagen. Created by painter and sculpter, Knud Kyhn, who worked for Royal Copenhagen most of his working life, creating stunning masterpieces. His tenure was from 1903-1968. He also had his own line that he created in his home studio, that he sold under his name. Kyhn understood the simplicity of MCM design and balance of colors. This tile's theme is the simple beauty of nature and its inhabitants. Simple design of the heron, fish and background meld together in the glazes of brown, greens and blues. Nothing fancy or overdone, but with a simple organic feel. This tile is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or crazing. Which is remarkable, considering it's age. And it is HEAVY! It is marked verso with Royal Copenhagen's three wave insignia and the production number of 21729. This tile would look lovely in any home decor setting, bringing nature in. The tile measures 13.97" tall x 12.20" wide x 4" deep. Made of ceramic. See less
