This is an Outstanding Example of a Authentic Antique American Stoneware 2 Gallon Storage Jar. Circa Approx 1870s. It is Beautifully and Artfully Hand Decorated with a Cobalt Blue Stylized Floral Sprig Design. It has Applied "Ears" - Carry Handles and It is Embossed with the Number "2" Denoting its Two Gallon Storage Capacity. It is Also Embossed - Signed with The Makers Name "NEW YORK STONEWARE CO." It is in Excellent Original Condition - No Cracks - No Repairs - Displays Beautifully. It has a Very Nice Sand Color Salt Glaze. It has 2 Minor Glaze Imperfections at the Lower Rim - Base Area but These Would Have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process. These Quite Common as these Types of Stoneware Items were Produced in Batches with Multiple Other Pieces at at The Same Time in a Large Size Kilns .
Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made For Everyday - Utilitarian Use.
It Measures Overall Approx 11 inches Tall x 9 1/2 inches Wide - Long.
