An exceptional large wooden case from the Victorian era, circa 1880s. Made from pine with raised and burled panels. Features a marquetry inlay top showcasing a bird within a flowering branch, framed in filigree inlay with a mother of pearl edge. The case has an upper compartment and large lower drawer. Interior is velvet lined with a silk ruffled top. The top is marked P. Banman & Co Saint Louis. A beautiful decorative display piece with versatility and function. Great for use as a jewelry box, document storage case, hand guns and ammunition or a cigar humidor.
