Its distinctive blue to wine-red gradient glaze is typical of Accolay production, with a speckled effect. The body of the vase is slightly grooved, emphasising its attractive, slender shape. The ceramic is beautifully sized and has a strong presence, with a particularly decorative raw appearance.

The vase is beautifully crafted. The glaze is shaded, thick and delicately mottled. There are 2 chips on the inside of the neck. The piece is signed and numbered on the base with a stylus.

9-16cm diameter, 27cm high.

In the middle of the 20th century, Accolay was the setting for a veritable revolution in ceramics. Four former students of Alexandre Kostanda settled in the small Yonne village in the mid-1940s, and many potters followed their example. For some forty years, the potters of Accolay produced impressive, original and daring work, characterised by thick, often speckled glazes and wild creativity. This piece has an attribution mark,
