Pierre d’Avesn’s design career began with a 10-year stint under Rene Lalique, where he designed two of Lalique’s now most desirable vases, Serpent and Tourbillons. D’Avesn headed up the Lorrain glass works later in his career, and I think it’s fair to suggest that this striking vase was created under his influence.
The vase stands 7 1/2 inches high and is about 6 1/2 at its widest point. Near-perfect condition, beautifully acid-etched.
