Hand painted in colorful … Read more A pair of highly collectible Japonisme porcelain vases in a tapered ovoid form with gold handles. Hand painted in colorful enamels all around, the body portraying fluttering delicate butterflies amongst colourful flowers, leaves and fern fronds.
Geometrically painted gilt top-rim and border and a relief molded foot in the form of a faux wooden stand raised on four feet. Made at the beginning of the Aesthetic Movement, England, Circa 1860s, shortly after the Great Exhitbition of 1851. Similar examples are found at important museums around the world including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The British Museum.
Faint impressed numerals on the underside. Superb addtions for a Minton collection.
Condition is exquisite.
