A striking pair of Japonisme porcelain vases in a tapered ovoid form with gold handles. Hand painted in colorful enamels all around, the body portraying fluttering delicate butterflies amongst colourful flowers, leaves and fern fronds.
Geometrically painted gilt top-rim and border and a relief molded foot in the form of a faux wooden stand raised on four feet. Made at the beginning of the Aesthetic Movement, England, Circa 1860s, shortly after the Great Exhitbition of 1851. Similar examples are found at important museums around the world including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The British Museum.
Faint impressed numerals on the underside. Superb addtions for a Minton collection.
Condition is exquisite.

Further reading: Christopher Dresser (4 July 1834 – 24 November 1904) was a British designer and design theorist, now widely known as one of the first and most important independent designers. He was a pivotal figure in the Aesthetic Movement and a major contributor to the allied Anglo-Japanese or Modern Style (British Art Nouveau Style) both of which originated in England and had long-lasting international influence. His importance as an artist is not to be underestimated.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final

Cancellations

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.
- The item will be delivered to your home and placed in the desired room. The delivery service includes unpacking, inspecting, and removing packaging materials; and does not include installation or setting up the item.
- Shipping charges start at $999 and vary based on the size, weight, packaging, and/or the value of the item.
- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
- You will need tools and/or equipment to open the crate.
- Shipping charges start at $799 and vary based on the size, weight, packaging, and/or the value of the item.
- Chairish Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.

- Chairish In-Home Delivery
