European Earthenware Bowl With Sponge Wear Polychrome Glaze. Large footed vessel with a hand-turned tapered conical form finished in a cream ground accented with polychrome glazes in organic greens and browns under a transparent glaze, creating a marbled/sponge wear effect as the glaze ran. I have read that this technique derives from the influence of early Chinese sensai pieces. NOTE: I have a complimentary bowl listed in my shop if you are looking for a pair.

In very good vintage condition considering age and history. Zoom in on photos to see any imperfections including loss of glazed finish in several places as one would expect of an antique earthenware vessel and a couple of chips in the rim.
