Offered is a vintage 1970s burnished and glazed ceramic bowl depicting two heron birds and butterflies from Tonalá in Jalisco, Mexico and created by Ken Edwards renowned for his studio, El Palomar.
The bird and flower are typical of the region, as are the earth-tone colors, green, gray, blue and brown - made from natural tints native to the area.
While non-leaded and perfectly safe for serving food, it also makes a lovely display bowl for a coffee-table, centerpiece, or on a console, yet could also be hung on a wall or framed in a shadow box.
It measures 6.75" in diameter on the bottom, 10.5" in diameter along the top rim, and is 2.25" in height, and is marked "K. E. - MEXICO" on the bottom.
