A matte glaze vase from the Ritzi series, designed by Gunnar Nylund and produced by Rörstrand factory (founded in 1726) during the golden era of Swedish pottery. The vase has a calming presence, inspired by zen empathizing Japanese pottery, with its mildly curved tapered silhouette, soothing colour and defining ribbed vertical lines.
Rörstrand Sweden trade mark, Ritzi and impressed '14' to base.

Gunnar Nylund, (Swedish, 1914-1997) served as the artistic director at Rörstrand ceramic studio from 1931–1955. He became well known for his signature matte feldspar glazed stoneware. Prior to his work at Rörstrand, he was a well-established ceramic artist in Denmark at Bing & Grøndahl, and later founded the ceramic workshop Saxbo, in partnership with a chemist Nathalie Krebs.
