Blue Flag Iris by Thomas Meehan, 1878 original chromolithograph with beautiful hand-embellished matting.

Iris versicolor (latin)
This antique chromolithograph was made in 1878 and is from 'The Flowers and Ferns of the United States' by Thomas Meehan.
Meehan was Professor of Vegetable Physiology for the Pennsylvania State Board of Agriculture. He was also the editor of The Gardeners' Monthly.
It is in excellent condition. The colors are fresh and bright.
