This one is titled "Dragon Number 3" and is print 7 of 100. The inscription reads "reproduced with ancient wood block technique on sugar cane (?) paper."

Pedro Puerta: Born and raised in the northern Peruvian city of Trujillo, Pedro Puerta specialized in the art of the linocut and woodcut. Almost completely self-taught, Pedro Puerta established a studio and printmaking workshop within his home. His original linocuts and woodcuts, printed upon either paper or cloth, represent the Mochica Indian culture of the region and depict some of it's greatest sites. Huaca Esmeralda is an adobe pyramid situated about five kilometers from Trujillo. Famous for its animal carvings this archeological monument dates from the Chimu civilization.

Today the art of Pedro Puerta is included in many public and private collections both in Peru and elsewhere. The Benson Latin American Collection at the University of Texas, Austin, lists three Pedro Puerta prints in its permanent collection. See less
