(From my research, wood or silicone utensils should only be used for this type of pan.) There are no dents or major patina issues that are reflected in the photographs. Patina can be seen around where the handle meets the outside copper pan. From my understanding, this type pan could be used until the copper shows through the cooking surface, about the size of a quarter. Then it should be resurfaced or retired for decoration. less
