Dovetailed construction throughout. It has one drawer and a chamfered sliding top. The sliding lid has hand painted red lettering with the words Marinka Kervaric and the year 1876. I found only one geographical place in the world named Kervaric and that's in the area of Bretagne, France. Marinka can mean marina or a girl's name in a few different countries, so who knows. French? Dutch? Swedish? Slavic? I have no idea, it's certainly one of a kind!

INSIDE dimensions of the drawer: 19.5" long, 12.75" wide and 2.625" deep. The drawer bottom is made from one board which is 13.375" wide . INSIDE dimensions of the top sliding area: 19.375" long, 13.75" wide and 3.25" deep.

PLEASE NOTE: The box has been painted more than once over the years, I see various shades of white. I would describe the current color as buttercream. The drawer slides nicely, however there is an age split on the very bottom on the bottom of the box, please see pics. The sliding lid has been re-glued at some point as well. It slides well, is stable and does not affect the use or display. A few light stains inside, no odors. This box is in As-Found condition.

Nice antique box for the collector. It'd be great for art supplies, kitchen doodads or office storage. So many uses... thanks for looking!!! Box88 See less
