It's original purpose was as a garden stool. I was shocked to discover this ~ I purchased at an estate sale several years ago and used as a vessel for wrapping paper, house plans, umbrella's, etc. The "top", or bottom depending on how you would use it, is scratched and discolored. It may be that it's original owner did use it in her garden as a plant stand.

It is beautiful and vibrant. The pictures don't do it justice - per Henry Dean's website "Every object is handmade, mouth blown and unique. The use of a wooden mould for example is a very primitive technique that is performed by the skilled hands of real craftsmen. Each time this mould is used, it burns out a little bit which gives each object an exclusive character." See less
