A small yet very striking modernist street scene composition, executed in oil onto canvas.
The painting depicts a bustling scene in a city with a tram and some figures strolling in the foreground, and a building motif situated in the background of the painting.
The artist has highlighted the silhouettes of the tram, building and figures with a thin black outline, and the painting has a sketch-like quality. Furthermore, by leaving areas of the canvas exposed, the artist’s creative use of negative space accentuates the shapes of the figure and objects, drawing our attention to their distinct forms.
