One of several available, which are originally from Kashmir and purchased from antique dealers in India who had to uproot their lives and relocated to the Bengal region for safety. I love the colorful patina overall which includes turquoise and bright pink. This coloring is likely an accumulation of powders from Holi celebrations, also known as the Festival of Colors because of the brightly colored powders that people anoint each other with, in large quantities. The slit on the back would have held a removable rider which is no longer with it, and the crossbars below the feet would have balanced on wheels, which are also no longer intact. See less
