This deceptively modern bentwood armchair was designed by Viennese architect Joseph Hoffmann for the Cabaret Fledermaus, a popular cabaret, in Vienna in 1907 and well illustrates design from the Viennese Secession/Wiener Werkstatte movement of the early 20th century.
This is likely a vintage, mid to late 20th century reproduction of the cafe chair. It is stained black and does show wear. "Thonet" is carved into the seat bottom.
