Vintage: 1960s-70s; Pablo Picasso, hand-made, ceramic pottery, "Taureau," (Bull), Jug with handle, or accent piece, by the well revered Mexican Padilla Ceramic Studio Foundry, one of two well known Foundries that produced Pablo Picasso's ceramic pieces, the better, and most notable, well known one is from the Madoura Ceramic Foundry in Europe. Picasso's iconography in his thread imagery utilized and references onto and into a new era of cubism, in paintings, sculpture, drawings, and thus into ceramics, were a long standing, and inspired era of his best production periods, within the Art Market, the Bull being his most well identified image he used and referenced across many mediums within his art, as Spain the bulls and matadors were a unifying theme in his work. This jug also has the tail wrapping up along the handle, with simple and yet beautiful colorations. He incorporated onto ceramic pieces by the plethora, but he is best known for his bull series, or these mythology inspired characterizations which gives and produced, his pieces with ethnic, unique and a modernist take, of antiquated themes and styles. This lovely pieces is stamped and numbered on the underside. pattern number 255 G4A/500, first part is the numbered produced from the series of 500 made, of that pattern, while the next portion pattern, G4A stand for, the "Taureau," (Bull) style for this Jug, and after the hash is the amount made in the series, of 500. hand applied, while the stamped markings from the Padilla Ceramic Studio Foundry. applied after the firing of this piece and all the pieces they produced, @ c1970s is the last known production dates, but started in the 1960s- and into the mid to late 1970s.
In excellent condition, except a minute flea bit to base bottom, not to the glaze, but to base bottom, as one assumes there was no felt or protective bottom pads placed onto it It looks as if it was well cared for and maintain lovingly. Sourced from a DelRay Beach, Florida Estate.
In excellent condition for era.
