Entitled “The Seven Lean Years” … Read more Being offered is a wonderful midcentury wood block print by noted Colorado artist Edward Marecak. Entitled “The Seven Lean Years” this is an very limited edition, one of eight, signed and numbered by the artist, circa approximately 1970. Professionally mounted with an archival ivory color mat, museum glass and a gold toned metal frame. Black ink on light manilla color paper, showing a stylized male nude figure viewed from the rear, with his head turned, with a fish in one hand and eating another, set in a black abstract background. Measuring 16-3/4" wide by 21" tall with a matted image size of 11-1/2" wide by 16" tall.

Edward Marecak (American 1919-1993) - Born of Parents from Slovakia, grew up in Cleveland and later Colorado. His parents cherished the customs and Slavic folk tales of their old country which strongly influenced his later work. A devotee of Greek Mythology, many of his works derived from this love. Edward Marecak’s pieces are in the collections of the Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art in Denver, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and Denver Art Museum. See less
