The mortar has been expertly treated and will certainly stand out as an authentic interior object. This mortar was traditionally used in the making of mochi, a Japanese rice dessert. Mochi is created by pounding glutinous rice into a sticky dough ball. Using the wooden pestle, the rice is finely pounded and kneaded into a cohesive mass.
