19th Century Stamp, Seal in silver bronze cast iron Susse Frères. Silvered bronze seal signed Susse frères representing a bust of a young man in the style of Jean Baptiste Carpeaux "the Neapolitan". The Susse Frères firm was established in 1839 by brothers Michel Victor Susse and Amedee Susse, who set up a foundry in Paris. The company was famous for producing exceptionally cast bronzes, which often featured impressively applied patinas. In addition to works of sculpture, Susse Frères made delicate parts for furniture and clocks, collaborating with several French sculptors to produce refined designs. The company continued to be run by Susse family members until the 1970s.Brass bottom with scroll initials. Hallmarks on rear.
