This 1920s Art Déco footed glass vase was created by gGerman artist Charles Schneider. The voluminous, reddish art glass body sits atop a narrow, fluted base resembling a goblet's stem. Schneider's signature and mark appear on the dark base.

Moving to France as a young man, Schneider began his career at Daum Glassworks before founding Verreries Schneider in 1913. This vase stems from that period, when Schneider moved past common glassware to introduce nature-inspired Art Nouveau, later developing his signature Art Déco style.

Schneider captured the transition from organic motifs toward streamlined geometric forms before his passing in 1953. See less
