The fine art lithograph print poster is published by The Honkin Gallery Inc. Chicago, printed in 1974 in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the Alexander Calder exhibition.
Alexander Calder ( 1898 - 1976 ) was an American born Modernist artist. Although primarily known for both his innovative kinetic mobiles and monumental public sculptures, Calder also created important paintings, prints, theater set designs, jewelry design, tapestries, rugs, and political and commercial commissioned posters. Born into a family of artists, his work first gained attention in the 1920's in Paris, and was soon championed by The Museum of Modern Art New York resulting in his first retrospective exhibition in 1943. His artistic talents were world renowned by the 1960's. Calder is credited with creating some of the most important Modernist artworks of The Twentieth Century.
