Rich in beautiful colors and intricately detailed scenes, it portrays the winemaking process, from grape harvesting to pressing, with scenes flowing seamlessly from left to right. The original unique piece, cut and resewn, captures the essence of wine production in a delightful ambiance where lords and peasants coexist. Elevate your space with the artistry and history of this robert-four alteration design manufactured from copy of cluny museum masterpiece. Presentation of the theme wine was an extremely important drink in the middle ages: more wine was drunk than water because the latter was unreliable and a vector of disease. The vine is therefore a very present element in the landscape and can be found in the countryside as well as in the city. Everyone comes together in september and october to harvest and press the grapes. Moreover, it is almost always a scene of harvest or crushing that was chosen in the middle ages to illustrate the month of october in calendars, the pruning of the vines representing the month of march. Description unfortunately truncated, the original museum tapestry is made up of two scenes: the harvest and the pressing, the order of presentation of which is reversed. The piece was in fact cut and then sewn back together in an illogical order. If the grape pressing scene is depicted on the left against a conventional background of a thousand flowers, the harvest scene is depicted on the right in a natural setting and therefore more suggestive of an idealized countryside.
