Circa 1960s Italian ceramic candle holder produced in San Marino (a small, independent republic within Italy). Features a highly-textured 'fat lava' glaze, one of San Marino's signature finishes. 'Effetto Lacca' (enamel effect) was incorporated in the hand-decoration of the piece and depicts a female face, whose hair and neck are adorned with colorful decorations.
Striking piece boasting vibrant colors and modernist form. Few spots of glaze loss, as shown. Otherwise, in excellent, vintage condition.
Works as a single candle holder, given its relatively large size: H: 11" x D: 3" x L: 4.25"
Also works nicely as a tabletop decorative object.
Signed 'Made in Italy' to the base.
