Rare original hand-colored lithograph "Clematite Francois Morel" from Revue Horticole in mid-1880's. Professionally matted and framed, it has been well protected and is in excellent condition. Early original Revue Horticole lithographs are becoming increasingly scarce, and this particular one is more so. Signed by Godard in the lower left corner; the other signature in the lower right corner is "Chromolith G. Severeyns", the Belgian lithographer.
The Parisian Revue Horticole began publication in 1829 with hand-colored engravings, but employed chromolithographic illustrations from 1851 onwards. Godard's contributions spanned 1878-1892.
Under glass and framed in gold with some reddish brown highlights that bring out the colors in the lithograph; the matting is ivory with a gold bevel.
Framed litho measures 14-1/2" tall x 10-1/2" wide x 0.625" thick
