This original signed lithograph is by Chaim Gross (1904- 1991) “ Mother Playing”
Number 57 of a small edition of 100.
Chaim Gross was born in Austria and emigrated to the States in 1921.
He studied at the Educational Alliance Art School, the Beaux Arts Institute, & the Arts Students League n NYC
He won a national sculpture prize of $3000 in 1937, under the Art program of the U.S. Treasury, Washington, DC; received the Silver Medal at the Paris Exposition in 1937, and the second prize at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1942.
The Whitney Museum of American Art held one man show of his work in 1959.
In 1963 Chaim received one of the most significant honors in American Art
The Arts & Letters Award. an honor given once every 5 years to an American who has made the most significant contribution to to American arts & culture
