This is a rare set of three Mid Century Modern ceramic serving pieces made by Fratelli Fanciullacci Pottery. The design includes a pair of gilt stallions on each the charger, the pedestal bowl, and the lid of the covered dish along with one modern pattern incised onto another into the rims as well as the entire surface of each piece (sgraffito). The lid to the covered dish does have a very small chip, otherwise the only imperfections are surface marks consistent with age and function. The three pieces together is an extremely rare sight.
Fratelli Fanciullacci Pottery was established in Capraia, Italy in 1862 and employed numerous well-known potters until it ceased operations in 1988. Among those famed potters were Aldo Londi, Vincenzo Ossani, Lorenzo and Giovacchino Canneri, Dino and Mario Scappini, Bruno Bagnoli, and Benvenuto Staderini.
