This French Restoration period (early 19th century) single bergere chair is made of solid mahogany and remains quite sturdy for regular or occasional use. The chair has a squared back with stylized arms ending in gilt bronze swan heads, recalling the Empire period just before. This interesting antique chair is presently upholstered in a beige cut velvet of geometric design with a coordinating tape trim that is in gently worn condition.
