Included are five solid walnut chairs with oval cane back insets and Federal style legs in an intentionally distressed Italian country mahogany finish and upholstered seats. They are in excellent to very good vintage condition with plenty of life remaining in the upholstery. Alternatively, they may be easily customized by their new custodian by simply releasing the seats by the screws on the undersides to cover in a new fabric choice.
The table features a unique sliding mechanism allowing it to expand by sliding then unfolding the hinged top. It is ready to be enjoyed by a new family without fear of placing its first scratch or pit, because there are already a few present. If desired, the quality of craftmanship, however, warrants the effort in refinishing as it has the potential as an heirloom level piece. Its overall form is sleek with Art Deco style legs, chrome foot caps and casters for ease of moving around the room.
It is marked on the underside with Milling Road, Baker Furniture, stamped "Made in Italy" and has the original paper slip attached indicating it is crafted of maple wood.
The four chairs bear the original manufacturer's placards on the undersides, "Milling Road."
