Each figure is wearing a yellow habit and cap, … Read more A unique pair of hand-carved and painted Santos-style figurines of nuns. Each figure is wearing a yellow habit and cap, both accented with black. Yellow habits are recognized in the Roman Catholic religion but these figures most likely derive from Central America. The wings are missing, one figure has the broken remains of wings in slots. Slight size difference, one has a noticeable slant and requires a leveling base, one has a natural crack in the wood. The paint is worn, the figures show some level of distress. Believed to be dated to early 20th century, but could be older, exact age is unknown.
