Original finish, and sometimes the North Wind Face is known as the Green Man. This chair has a rather pleasing example of the facial expression associated with this character.
This ticks all the correct boxes and will suit many an interior whether traditional or modern - see photographs.
Retains makers label on underside as shown.
Late 19th Century.

Stomps Bukhardt Company produced some of fine examples of this style of furniture from the late 19th century onwards. The company was founded in 1859 by Gustave Stomps and his brother Joseph.
