There is mat … moreIn my opinion the piece displays beautifully, especially once framed. The etching lines are strong and clear. There is mat burn present around the entire perimeter of the plate mark and to some degree along the the top of the etching (within the plate mark) causing some discoloration within the etching plate itself. This is how I found the piece and it was due to how the piece was stored. Please zoom in on all photos for details. Mat burn can be reversed if the media and paper are stable enough to undergo water washing. Water washing removes the acidity and degradation products that have been transferred to the paper from the acidic mat. This is something that should be left to a professional.
