Study of figure is a china ink drawing realized in the mid-19th century by victor chavet (1822-1906). Hand-signed on the lower. Glued on a hard cardboard passepartout: 28 x 21 cm, original one by the publisher, on the rear stamped " adolphe legoupy, paris" good condition with a repaired central part. Victor chavet (1822-1906) was a pupil of pierre révoil in lyon then of camille roqueplan. He exhibited at the parisian salons and was awarded numerous medals (1853, 1855, 1857, 1859). He was named knight of the legion of honor in 1859 and received state orders. He executed, in addition to paintings, important tapestry cartoons representing the portraits of françois i and the painter francesco romanelli which are kept in the galerie d'apollon of the louvre museum. Another major state commission from the painter in 1857 led him to participate in the completion of the louvre, which napoleon iii built in five years. He is the author of a composition for the watercolor album offered by napoleon iii to queen victoria retracing the main events of her trip to france, such as the walk in the hall of mirrors in versailles. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
